Testimonies to Timothy

Testimonies to Timothy: Paul’s second letter to Timothy “is the most personal of the letters
attributed to Paul, written to prepare Timothy to carry on the work of ministry after Paul’s
impending death” (David A. DeSilva, An Introduction to the New Testament, 733). The way that
the aging apostle does prepare Timothy is by testimony, that is personal encouragement based on
the works of God experienced by Paul and/or others. Our sermons in the month of October will
seek to discover how these testimonies of Paul to Timothy still speak to us, preparing us for the
work of ministry in our world.
